September and Rosh Hashanah Pictures

A little belated, but just as cute!

Happy faces to start a new year!

Tasting sweet honey for a sweet new year...

Tastes sweet!

The vinegar was not nearly as tasty.

It got quite a few bad reviews. We didn't want a year like vinegar.

We made some Rosh Hashanah cards for our families wishing them a year like honey!
(if you know how to flip pictures on blogger so you don't have to crane your neck, let me know!)

Long past due: Pesach Videos!

Long past due: Pesach Pics!

Cleaning for Pesach, scrubbing that table clean (sort of)!

More cleaning... (the scarves were part of their "leaving Egypt" playtime)

Looking for the Afikomen... is it in the bookcase? No...those are just books.

Is it in the kitchen cabinet? No... that is just our kiddush cup.

Is it in the basket? No... that's just baby Moshe.

Here it is! It's under the rug!

The masks depicting each plague were a hit! The cow mask was a particularly popular choice... (Not sure why this picture came out sideways....)

Making Charoses: we chopped apples...

...and added grape juice for a yummy seder treat!

It was so much fun to do the kiddush cup-polishing work. The kids had a great time watching the tarnish disappear from the silver.

Long past due: Pesach Pics!

We watched Morah Chava pull the Matzah out of the bag... oooh! Suspense!

It was so bumpy and rough! Later, we got to explore the matzah in the sensory table and crumble, crackle and crunch it!

It tasted yummy too!

After reading "The Mouse in the Matzah Factory", we knew all the things we would need to make matzah: flour, water and some FAST workers! We made our own matzah - we poured the water and flour quickly into a bowl.

Mixing that matzah dough was messy work!

Rolling the dough...

Poking holes to make sure it doesn't rise...

Ready for baking!

The finished product... all in less than 18 minutes!

Sending baby Moshe down the Nile in a basket. This activity, along with yelling "No, I will not let the people go!" was a favorite activity.

When the Jews were ready to leave, they had no time to let the dough rise. They just packed into their bags and left in a hurry!

What happened to the dough?

It turned to Matzah!

Morah Chava pulled different foods out of the basket and we had to guess, was it chometz?

Or matzah?!

Purim fun!

Purim's coming!
Princesses, princess-ballerinas, pirates and trains! (Sam's Thomas costume came off when it got in the way of more important things - playing!) The mitzvah kids at the Aleph-Bet Preschool welcomed Purim in style!

Nosh, Nosh, a hamentash
Let's make a hamentash now!

Mixing is hard work!

The egg free, whole grain oat, and flaxseed dough was hit and passed the taste test with flying colors! (Surprising, yes, I know!)

Roll and roll the dough with me...

Pinch it here and you will see...

Haman's hat looked just like that!
Let's make a hamentash now!

Should I eat it now, or after it's baked?

Light and Dark

These are some photos from when the kids were learning Light from Dark, and the first day of creation. We set up a lamp behind a sheet so they could explore shadow and light. What happened when your hand was very close to the light? What happened when your hand was closer to the sheet instead? They loved playing with it and showing their friends. Even Rosie got into it!
